If you want a nice car, you wouldn't buy a toyota corolla then spend a ton of money trying to dress it up and make it look better. in mordor, playing a stealthy strategy is just like playing a gimped version of the bloodthirsty rambo strategy. deus ex has bonuses for playing nonlethal and you avoid a lot of dangerous parts of levels, skyrim will give you crazy stealth damage bonuses, or you can pickpocket, or you can get access to a lot of utility spells if you're a mage. i'd rather stick to one strategy (doesn't have to be stealth, could be nonlethal, archer, whatever) in a game that actually rewards me (instead of me having to generate all the positive feedback for myself) for doing something other than playing rambo mode. it sort of takes the magic out of the game knowing that i'm not actually gaining any advantage by using the knowledge from the nemesis system.Īnd also, if you want to roleplay like that i would think games like skyrim or deus ex are much more conducive to that method of gameplay. you're just as effective ignoring all the weaknesses and mashing your face into the keyboard, so it feels pointless to try and exploit the weaknesses. I guess it can make it a little more interesting if you constantly try and exploit the captain's weaknesses, but for me that just seems like polishing a turd. there's no parkour or cool movement you can do that lets you gain an advantage. What's the point though? the environment is poorly defined for strategical gameplay since you can just run over everything.
